Visit the most beautiful and famous churches in Prague

All Prague guides will tell you Prague is called " the city of a hundred spires". Remember this when you 'll be standing at Prague Castle with perfect views of Vltava river and the city. Then you will understand why. In the castle area, the oldest preserved Basilica of St. George welcomes all admires of Romanesque architecture. The most imporant church of the Czech Republic, St. Vitus Cathedral, is opened for the public and each summer hosts organ concerts. Just below the castle lies perhaps the most famous Baroque jewel of Prague, St. Nicholas Church. You are free to visit the church (for fee) during day or come for a classical concert in the evening. St. Kajetán Church in Nerudova street is a valuable example of an early Baroque architecture. Book a sightseeing trip in Prague to learn more about the rich history of Prague's churches. Baroque, Renaissance and Gothic churches in Prague

On Old Town Square you will find another St. Nicholas Church created by Kilian Ignac Dientzenhofer. The church's pride is the most remarkable chandelier. The picturesque and truly magical church with two towers is called Church of Our Lady before Týn. Visitors can admire the oldest organ in Prague and a unique Renaissance tomb of the famous Danish astronomer Tycho de Brahe. Occasional superb classical concerts are held there. You can find the largest organ in Prague at St. James Basilica located few minutes off the square. During autumn, an international organ festival welcomes visitors from all around the wrold. St. Giles Church at Husova Street, originally Gothic church re-built into Baroque organizes regular organ concerts on organ from 1773! Renaissance St. Salvator Church in Salvátorská Street was commissioned by the emperor Rudolph II. 

Chamber classical concerts in Prague's best churches

St. Clement Cathedral in Klementinum, St. Francis Church and St. Salvator Church Klementinum stand close together near the Gothic Charles Bridge connecting Lesser Town with Old Town. At St. Salvator Church Klementinum, a recently restored organ from the 18th century used to be played by famous composers of 18th century such as Jan Dismas Zelenka or Jakub Jan Ryba. Klementinum Mirror Chapel, part of the former Jesuit college, Prague Klementinum, host one of the most popular and highly rated chamber classical concerts in Prague. The ensemble perform Antonín Dvořák, Bedřich Smetana, Antonio Vivaldi and more.
