One of the most sought-after film composers in the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House
Born in Romania and musically raised on classical music and jazz, Vladimir Cosma found his true creative home in France, where he began composing film scores and quickly gained a distinguished position. His name is associated with iconic films such as The Tall Blond Man with One Black Shoe, The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob, The Wing and the Thigh, Animal, and many others. He is renowned for his gift of writing melodies that are catchy, witty, and moving—themes that not only accompany the film but become an inseparable part of it. Cosma has been honored with numerous international awards, including two César Awards for Best Original Score—for Diva (1981, awarded in 1982) and Le Bal (1983, awarded in 1984).
