Birthday concert by a renowned Czech double bassist!

Core band members Petr Dvorský and Stanislav Mácha are longtime collaborators and members of the debuting quartet The Four, which—together with saxophonist Karel Růžička Jr.—garnered numerous successes and awards in the 1990s. They have added American drummer Jesse Simpson and seasoned Welsh saxophonist Osian Roberts, whose fiery yet refined improvisation brings even more emotional charge to the ensemble. The refreshed lineup loosely builds on the 1990s period and offers a new program comprising compositions by double bassist Petr Dvorský as well as works by others (Oscar Pettiford, Sam Jones, Karel Růžička Sr.), arranged for an acoustic jazz quartet. The musicians’ generational affinity and frequent collaborations in other projects lay the groundwork for a unified musical language and exceptional ensemble cohesion.

This project also marks Petr Dvorský’s debut as a bandleader, drawing on his extensive experience from previous projects. Among his other notable projects and ensembles are the Emil Viklický Trio, Concept Art Orchestra, and international collaborations with stars such as Mark Vinci, Ingrid Jensen, Randy Brecker, Walter Fischbacher, and more.

The high level of acoustic set up in this Prague jazz club allows live jazz music gigs until the morning hours! Often during a one single evening several jazz bands together as well as guest musicians will change on jazz club stage.

Jazz Dock has its own music concept. It´s dramaturgy is specific for its several-days concert blocks of significant Czech jazz bands and foreign bands and regular jazz festivals focused on a particular jazz genre, specific country or dominant jazz instrument.
