Baroque Splendour, Carols of Home: an Advent evening with the chief conductor Tomáš Netopil

For his Advent concerts, Chief Conductor Tomáš Netopil presents a program inspired by his love of Baroque music. Rameau's radiant orchestral suite opens the evening, followed by Poulenc's sparkling Concert champêtre – a witty twentieth-century homage to the harpsichord – performed by the brilliant Jean Rondeau, one of today's most distinctive exponents of the instrument. Luboš Fišer's Christmas, with its colourful settings of traditional Czech carols for soloists, choirs and orchestra, brings the programme to a joyful close as the festive season draws near.

Program:

  • Jean-Philippe Rameau | Les Boréades, Suite from the opera
  • Francis Poulenc | Pastoral Concerto for harpsichord and orchestra (Concert champêtre)
  • Luboš Fišer | Christmas

Performing:

Jean Rondeau - harpsichord
Vojtěch Semerád - tenor
