A world-renowned saxophonist Chris Potter, nominated for a Grammy®, in a trio with bassist Matt Brewer and drummer Kendrick Scott

Chris Potter has emerged as one of the leading voices of his generation. His music is defined by limitless creativity and a vibrant sense of swing, prompting critics, musicians, and fans alike to cite him as one of today’s finest saxophonists. The New Yorker describes Potter as “a tenorist who can remind you of Joe Henderson at his craftiest, employing his considerable technique in the service of music rather than spectacle.” Over the course of his career, Potter has built an impressive discography, with more than a dozen albums as a leader and numerous high-profile collaborations, including a long-standing artistic partnership with bassist Dave Holland. His technical mastery, robust tone, and remarkable control are matched by an inexhaustible imagination, allowing him to construct extended solos that remain focused and compelling.

Potter’s latest project is a trio featuring bassist Matt Brewer and drummer Kendrick Scott. Brewer, known for his work with artists such as Pat Metheny and Esperanza Spalding, contributes a deep, resonant tone and exceptional rhythmic clarity. Scott, a celebrated drummer and composer, has performed with jazz legends including Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, bringing dynamic, expressive energy to the ensemble. Together, the trio explores a balance of intricate compositions and spontaneous improvisation, pushing the boundaries of modern jazz. Their performances have been met with critical acclaim, highlighting a cohesive, forward-looking musical dialogue and a shared commitment to artistic exploration that continues to shape the landscape of contemporary jazz.
