Czechia's leading Roma pop band blending Romani melodies with flamenco, swing & funk
Bachtale Apsa, whose name means "Joyful Tears" in Romani, is one of Czechia's leading contemporary Roma pop bands, performing hundreds of concerts since 2010 across Europe, Algeria, and India. Centered on the virtuoso accordion playing of blind musician Mário Bihári alongside guitarist and singer Peter Horvát, the band also features violinist Adam Pospíšil, trumpeter Nicholas Roy Arthofer, and rhythm section Radek and Michal Sivák. Their music draws on Balkan, Hungarian, Spanish, and Slovak Romani traditions, including the classic czardas, while also showcasing original compositions by Bihári and Horvát. The result is a distinctive blend of Romani melodies with rumba, flamenco, swing, and funk.
