Tonight in Agharta Jazz Centre: Vít Švec Trio

Vít Švec Trio originated in 2000 in Prague with Mexican pianist Mark Aanderud. This collaboration reached its height with the recording of a CD named "Trio '02 - Mark Aanderud, Vít Švec, Pavel Razim", which was released by the publishing house ARTA. The CD was determined by magazine Harmonie as „The best Czech jazz record of year 2002“.

The trio performs regularly in Prague's many jazz clubs as well as throughout Czech Republic and abroad. Vít Švec Trio is focusing on original jazz compositions by Vít Švec, Jiří Růžička and on modern interpretations of standards.

Since 1991, the AghaRTA Jazz Centre has drawn lovers of jazz by its top quality program. The dramaturgy of the club revolves around three main ideas: to present top Czech jazz musicians (Jiří Stivín Emil Viklický, Luboš Andršt etc.), to introduce jazz musicians who began their career in this Prague jazz club and made it to the top (Roman Pokorný, David Dorůžka, Robert Balzar, Yvonne Sanchez and many others), and to support young talented musicians providing a platform for their presentation.

Apart from its regular program AghaRTA Jazz Centre organizes the Annual AghaRTA Prague Jazz Festival featuring distinguished artists, such as The Brecker Brothers, Chick Corea, Candy Dulfer, Jan Garbarek, Diana Krall, Branford Marsalis, Wynton Marsalis, John McLaughlin, Pat Metheny, Oregon, Maceo Parker, Courtney Pine, John Scofield, Wayne Shorter, Spyro Gyra, McCoy Tyner, Miroslav Vitous, Mark Whitfield, Yellow Jackets.

While visiting Prague for 4 days we attending 2 concerts. One was jazz at a club and one was classical in a church. Both were fantastic. Love how accessible, high quality the performers were, and affordable. . What a beautiful way to introduce Prague to visitors to your beautiful city.

Excellent conditions, first-rate bass player with a powerful round sound and choruses with plenty of ideas.

Salle intimiste très agréable. Bon trio. Contrebassiste excellent. Une grande performance aussi du pianiste.
