The quartet offers a vibrant and dynamic sound that keeps audiences from sitting still!
Tomas Jochmann Latin Jazz Quartet was founded in 2022 as an offshoot of the larger project Klan Del Caribe, a well-known salsa band. Although Tomáš is of Slovak nationality, he grew up deeply immersed in Latin American music, which has had a strong influence on his playing style. As a student of the legendary jazz pianist Barry Harris, Tomáš was also strongly influenced by Kenny Barron, whose workshops in Italy he attended on several occasions. His other major inspirations include Bill Evans, Michel Camilo, and Chucho Valdés, all of whom have contributed to his distinctive sound that blends multiple playing styles. Specializing in Afro-Cuban jazz, the band uniquely combines Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz harmonies and melodies.
Their music is one of a kind in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The quartet is known for its high-energy live performances, captivating listeners through a masterful fusion of rhythm and melody. Each performance brings a touch of Latin America to the stage and creates an unforgettable experience.
Tomáš Jochmann – piano; Maor Van Gelder – bass; Carlos Rodríguez – timbales; Eduardo Vielma – congas
