Music of the trio is full of improvisation, joy of playing and, last but not least, instrumental mastery,
which is always in the service of melody and musicality. Due to the different cultures and musical backgrounds from which Libor, Sam and Jesse come, the resulting style is very varied and at the same time harmonious, linked by a common love of jazz history and an open approach to improvisation.
Three of the seven continents of our planet contributed one musician each to the creation of the international jazz trio Three of Seven: Europe is represented by Czech guitarist Libor Šmoldas, distant Australia by double bassist Sam Zerna, a native of Adelaide, and North America by drummer Jesse Simpson originally from California. What connects all three is the jazz mecca of New York, the city where Sam Zerna lives, Jesse Simpson lived and studied at the Manhattan School of Music, and where Libor Šmoldas regularly goes to perform and make records.
