A rare operatic finale: Rossini for two pianos
Opera rarely takes centre stage in the Czech Philharmonic's Evening Concert Series — which makes the finale of this season's series all the more special. The music of Gioachino Rossini will take the fore, but not in the form of arias: instead, audiences can look forward to a selection of his most beloved overtures, brilliantly arranged for two pianos. The Marchegiani-Schiavo Piano Duo brings this programme to life with the kind of shared musical excitement that critics have been quick to praise.
Program:
- Gioacchino Rossini (arr. by Richard Kleinmichael)
L'italiana in Algeri, overture to the opera - Johannes Brahms
Hungarian Dances, selections - Gioacchino Rossini (arr. by Richard Kleinmichael)
The Barber of Seville, overture to the opera - Antonín Dvořák
Slavonic Dances, selections - Gioacchino Rossini (arr. by Richard Kleinmichael)

Sergio Marchegiani - piano
Marco Schiavo - piano
