In this monumental setting of the Mass text, composed toward the end of his life, the Leipzig master created a breathtaking compendium of his compositional mastery. Nearly a hundred years would pass before the work was performed in its entirety, by which time it had come to be regarded as an immortal monument to human creativity and to the unsurpassed genius of its creator.

Collegium Vocale 1704
Collegium 1704 is a Prague-based, highly acclaimed Baroque orchestra established in 2005 by the conductor and harpsichordist Václav Luks. The orchestra & vocal ensemble present famous orchestral and choral works by well-known composers as well as long-forgotten and now rediscovered treasures of the Baroque repertoire. The ensemble has been successfully promoting the work of Czech masters like Jan Dismas Zelenka and Josef Mysliveček.
