Come to Jazz Dock and discover folk songs as you’ve never heard them before

Singer Markéta Foukalová, best known as the voice of the alt-pop band Lanugo, is fulfilling her dream — bringing her voice together with the intimate sound of an acoustic jazz trio, performing songs beloved among folk enthusiasts. This fresh and unexpected combination comes to life in her brand-new project Markéta Foukalová Folk Q. During the evening, the audience will hear a repertoire long rooted around campfires in an entirely new and sophisticated form. On stage, Markéta will be joined not only by pianist Mikuláš Pokorný, the author of most of the arrangements, but also by a top-class rhythm section: double bassist Jaromír Honzák and drummer Marek Urbánek.

Markéta Foukalová is a singer and lyricist who moves freely across genres from pop and jazz to electronic music. Her main project Lanugo has gained a devoted following, but her solo work and collaborations — including with pianist Martin Brunner — are equally noteworthy. Mikuláš Pokorný, a young pianist who has already made a name for himself on the Czech jazz scene, studied at Prague’s VOŠ KJJ, Brno’s JAMU, and Lisbon’s Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. You may have heard him performing with his own trio, Laco Deczi & Celula New York, or alongside vocalist Jan Smigmator. Jaromír Honzák is an icon of Czech jazz, a six-time Anděl Award winner, and head of the jazz department at HAMU (Academy of Performing Arts in Prague). Marek Urbánek is one of the most sought-after Czech musicians, moving effortlessly between jazz, hip-hop, and R’n’B.

Jazz Dock´s ten-meter-long futuristic bar is full of traditional and proven drinks and cocktails as well as specialities and news for anyone with a fantasy. You can also enjoy Jazz Dock Kitchen´s delicatessen and treat yourself to a tasty dinner, all the time during the musical production.
