Silence and resistance: Václav Havel's vision comes to life on stage
Perpetuum mobile is a physical theatre production directed by Petr Boháč, inspired by a letter the former Czech president Václav Havel wrote to his wife from prison in 1989 — his only text conceived as a nonverbal theatre piece. The performance draws on the testimonies of real dissidents, including Belarusian prisoner of conscience Palina Sharenda-Panasiuk, Chinese artist Ai Weiwei, and current Russian political prisoners. Combining physical theatre with striking video projections, it tells the universal story of nameless individuals who find the courage to resist tyranny.
