Three extraordinary voices at the peak of their artistry meet on the Jazz Dock stage
The David Friesen Special Trio brings together three extraordinary jazz voices at the peak of their artistry. David Friesen, whose effortless originality and commanding presence have earned him a place among the foremost bassists of his generation, leads the ensemble with unmatched authority (Nat Hentoff). Over his remarkable career, Friesen has performed with jazz legends such as Joe Henderson, Chick Corea, Stan Getz, Chet Baker, Art Pepper, and Paul Bley, among others. John Stowell, a masterful guitarist known for his remarkable creativity and refusal to rely on clichés, contributes a distinct and compelling voice to the trio (Larry Coryell).
Completing the trio, Libor Šmoldas is celebrated both in the Czech Republic and internationally as one of the leading jazz guitarists in the world (Sound Czech). The trio performs primarily Friesen’s original compositions primarily, offering a deeply expressive, innovative, and unforgettable jazz experience.
