The Grégr Hall is a popular venue for chamber concerts of classical music
Named after Julius Grégr, the founder of famous influental Czech newspapers of the 19th and 20th century, National Daily. The Grégr Hall, originally Besední (Discussion) Hall is well known for its great acoustics and amazing Art Nouveau decorations.
The Municipal House offers a wide range of multifunctional premises in which all sorts of events are held (exhibitions, conferences, fashion shows, charity events, companies' shows, etc.). There is also a great and highly recommendable French restaurant, Cafe and American bar. This representative building is, above all, a great place for classical music concerts and one of the prime venues of the world-famous Prague Spring Festival.
The Municipal House in Prague was built at the place of the former Royal Court in 1912 to celebrate the Czech nation. It is a representative building which for its splendour and beautiful decorations is one of the jewels of Prague architecture. Although the building is usually described as an "Art Nouveau" edifice it is more of a blend of neo-Baroque, neo-Renaissance, western and oriental influences and Czech Art Nouveau style.
How to get there:
- Accessibility by Prague public transport:
metro B (yellow line) - Náměstí Republiky station
tram - Náměstí Republiky stop - Nearest car parking:
garages of the Palladium or Kotva shopping malls on Náměstí Republiky, Prague 1

Koncert byl skvělý, Komorní orchestr "Prague Music" hrál výborně, hodina uběhla velmi rychle a orchestr na závěr přidal i jednu skladbu.

They did not play the whole program. We listened in the basement of the building. This was not worth the price of the ticket.

A very enjoyable performance by a quality 7-piece string ensemble, and an excellent choice of music pieces. Being not familiar with works of Dvořák this was a great introduction. During the Johann Straus encore the musicians really seemed to be enjoying themselves. This was the highlight of my weekend in Prague.
