Hybernia Theatre and its location have a rich history. In the 14th century, the emperor Charles IV built the St. Ambrosius monastery here which gradually fell under different orders, the Benedictines, Minorites, and finally in the 17th century the Irish Franciscans.
In late-18th century the monastery was shut down on the order of Emperor Joseph II and the church was deconsecrated. Still, the place was called „U Hybernů“ (Hybernia means Ireland in latin). The former church served as a customs house, exhibition hall. In 2006 its interior was transformed into a modern theatre hosting mainly musicals, but also ballet, opera performances and jazz concerts.
L'extérieur est agréable à voir, l'intérieur n'a aucun intérêt.
Excellent dance
Seating was good, sight lines were fine.
Dancers do not have enough technique to dance from the répertoire. The lever is absolutely not international but rather academic.
People were very enthusiastic, we're sorry to leave so early.
Classic theatre with loads of character and all the home comforts to enjoy the performance and breaks!!
I feel we overpaid for our seats. There should really be a seating map from which to choose when booking online.
The venue was so hot that some guests left. The bar tender was good, but weak English with made it difficult to communicate.
The building is beautiful. But inside it was a little worn out
They need some way to cool the theater for the dancers/performers and for the audience.
Vieillot et trop simple. La salle du bas est d'une tristesse et peu accueillante. Acces par escalier à la salle de spectacle manquant de lustre et de faste...
It's a very nice theatre, with definitely options to reach a higher level. One comment: please hire two people to support the bar, before and during the break. There were too many girls for ticketing and guidance and too little people for the bar.
Hybernica in Prague certainly is an interesting and well situated location, with history and a contemporary potential for any kind of performance. However, with this 'dance' performance, without live music, with a poor setting and very poor performance, this somehow works against the quality of the whole. Hybernica needs to review her own programming : maybe not programm these performers at this stage now. PvB 060222
Samotne baletni predstaveni bylo moc hezky zinscenovano, kulturni zazitek ale uplne zkazilo mnozstvi nevhodne oblecenych divaku, ktere v bundach, s igelitovymi taskami a obcerstvenim uvadecky vpustily do salu. Divaci byli v salu hlucni, fotili s bleskem a celkove to melo uroven navstevy multikina.
Comfy seats, but it's about time to upgrade the stage.
Tired, uncomfortable and depressing. People allowed to video the performance, toilets in the basement.
Accueil correct mais salle de spectacle sans grand charme
Small theatre , very basic, comfy seats.
Il s agit d'un petit théâtre. L'organisation est plutôt bonne, mais les sièges peu confortables. La scène est donc plutôt petite ce qui impacte forcément le décors et malheureusement dans ce cas la qualité.
The location is great but the stage could be bigger.
The venue was very basic. Bathrooms were difficult to find.
Lovely venue with good facilities. Easy to find even for a tourist.
Very intimate venue. Seats are small and not confortable.
Very suitable location
I was expecting a more stunning interior from Divadlo Hybernia. Compared to The Estates Theatre, it has nothing special. I could smell the toilets from the stairs in the entrance floor. I would not choose to go to Divadlo Hybernia again.
The venue is nice and probably needs some updating. Comfortable seats!
Seemed like there was not a bad seat in the venue. Great location.
I liked the downstairs bar area but the theatre itself could have been smarter; chairs were just stacked at the side rather than hidden out of sight.
I expected a well organized theater adapted to ballet performances. I could enjoy the performance only thanks to dancers who were of high quality and deserved dancing on the music of a real orchestra not a recorded one in a more accurate scenarios. The spectators' seats are very uncomfortable, but the price of the ticket is not negligible.
Divadlo staré a prašné
It's pretty old. It needs cleaning and a bit of maintenance. I would suggest also having it smell nicer.
Terrible, broken seats. Whatever covering used onstage was appallingly squeaky. Sadly not worth the money - it was extremely expensive for a poor experience
Dirty poorly kept and too hot
The venue could be refreshed a little bit, it was quite hot inside and everything seemed a little bit old. But this did not bothered us to enjoy the event.
I love that it was a small venue. I just did not like that I had to pick up the tickets at a different location than the venue. I also do not like that the bar only accepts cash because it is very inconvenient for travelers.
The venue is very old which need renovation.
Venue in disrepair. Seats broken and so uncomfortable you could not enjoy the event. One of the worst venues I have visited in any country. I would not return or recommend it to others. Certainly not commensurate with ticket price.
Average for Prague where everything is amazingly beautiful.
The theater looks much better outside than inside.
Personnel agréable
The theatre was warm , clean and very comfortable.
personnel du vestiaire peu aimable. problème de clé . ai dû payer pour récupérer un manteau
Really enjoyed it!
The theater floor was dirty. The theater generally looked in poor condition.
renovate !!!!!
You should mantain and take care / renew the venue a little more. The seats were very old and not very stable and light would still get in during scenes were it should have been completely dark
Intimate. Comfortable seating.
awful!!! I paid over €50 for a ticket in the 7th row and walked out at the intermission. If i paid half that then maybe i would have said "OK" then so be it and stayed. I will NOT recommend this venue to anyone!!!
Very uncomfortable seats and very hot inside.
The theater is old , not maintained , the floor and the ceilings are piling and the sits are uncomfortable. Overall the theater is unappealing.
Place needs a renovation. Chairs are broken and uncomfortable.
Not a nice entrance and inside looked old.
Theatre a little disappointing inside. Seats are well used and a bit wobbly. However the size of the theatre ensures that you have a great view of the dancers.
It was a puzzle as according to the website seating plan practically the whole theatre was almost booked up and we settled for 2 seats out of possibly 16 or so seats that looked available. However, the theatre was half empty????
The Hybernia is a tired old lady and it makes me sad to see her so. She did the job, however.
The show was great and the venue was fine. The theatre was nice, spacy and considerably clean.
We arrived 15 mins before the show start time and were advised to select free seats from the Row sections we had booked for. This worked well and we had a good view of the stage. The seats recline slightly and are not as uncomfortable as some theatres. Two of our party had walking sticks and a memo of staff quickly showed us to the lift and told us what to press to descend after the show. However it was very dark in the area where the lift is located firstly making it hard to find and secondly a falls risk for those with a mobility impairment. As far as theatres go it did the job it was meant to do
The venue was okay
Efficient entrance. Seats were a little tired and unstable.
Sans intérêt particulier, salle simple
Not a very nice atmosphere, ambiance and hall.
Everything was great!
Salle de ballet sans charme
Chairs were uncomfortable. Theater in need of renovations. VIP tickets cost did not add up to the venue.
le théatre n'est pas beau, ni à l'extérieur, pas grave, mais surtout pas à l'intérieur.
As above. A tiny bit too warm. Be sure and dress in indoor clothing. We were dressed for outdoors as it was very cold outside on our way to the ballet.
Seating ok but very hot
Seats are uncomfortable
It was a great location but the seats were not that comfortable.

You can look forward not only to a flood of beautiful music and funny lyrics, all kinds of crazy situations, but also interesting dance choreography and even tap dancing.
