The Lesser Town Bridge Tower is the Middle Ages gate to the Lesser Town area leading towards Prague Castle

The smaller tower dates back to the Romanesque period (the 12th century); its current Renaissance appearance goes back to 1591. The taller Late Gothic tower from 1464 is based on the architecture of Petr Parléř's Old Town Bridge Tower. From its viewing gallery, you get a stunning view of the flowing Vltava River and the historical city centre.

Interesting facts:

  • From the early 15th century for about two hundred years, the smaller tower (Judith's Tower) served as a jail.
  • The Lesser Town Bridge Tower is 43.5 meters high.
  • The gate was built in 1411 in place of an older, undoubtedly a Romanic building.
