Baroque ceremonial hall in Benedictine monastery, the oldest monastery in Bohemia

Let yourself be charmed by a unique contrast of Baroque splendor of Theresian Hall and tranquility of monastery gardens. We highly recommend concerts in Brevnov monastery, place of lively spiritual tradition, built more than 1000 years ago.

Theresian Hall is a representative space with beautiful decorations, for its excellent acoustic and a festive atmosphere used for concerts of classical music. In 1993, Břevnov Benedictine monastery celebrated 1000 years since its foundation and it is the oldest monastery in Bohemia.

Leading artists of 18th century – architects Kryštof and Kilian Ignác Dientzenhofers, painters Petr Brandl and Jan Jakub Stevens – worked on its reconstruction, and managed to create artistically valuable complex of Baroque buildings, temple and gardens admired by its visitors until today. The Temple of St. Margaret and the Theresian Hall are monastery's greatest jewels.
