Czech Museum of Music in Lesser Town has a great acoustics and captivating architecture

The Czech Museum of Music is located in a former 17th century church of St. Mary Magdalene in Lesser Town. The church belonged to the convent of the Dominican order. After the convent was abolished in 1783, the church was gradually rebuilt and served various purposes, i.e. as a post office, police barracks, or archives.

Its monumentality and functionality allows visitors to experience unusual symbiosis of Baroque church architecture, neo-Classical utilitarian adjustments and recently completed reconstruction for purposes of the museum.

Anyone who enters the hall is struck by its monumentality while feeling the magic of passing time encoded in all the transformations. The National Museum takes a unique opportunity to revitalize this space, once decorated with works of Baroque masters, and open it to music again.
