The impressive Liechtenstein Palace: the seat of Prague Academy of Music and a favourite concert venue

The Liechtenstein Palace was built on the grounds of five city houses in 1591 and rebuilt in Classical style in 18th cenutry. The princely family of Lichtensteins gradually lost interest in the Palace and sold it to the Earl of Ledebour. Later on, the Palace housed many different institutions, until finally in 1980´s it was acquired by the Academy of Musical Arts.

It was beautifully reconstructed and adjusted for the purposes of the Academy. Nowadays, the Liechtenstein Palace is literally full of music! The Liechtenstein Palace is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Tradičně vyhovující, ač symfonickému orchestru by slušelo větší auditorium. Vždy velmi obětaví organizátoři.

Thanks for the fantastic concert. Great musicians. Breathtaking repertoire. We are friends with classical music and at the concert we were with our daughters who are studying violin at a music school. This was the first time we heard music by the controversial Czech composer Erwin Schulhoff. This was the nicest evening in Prague during our trip to the Czech Republic.

Sál Martinů na HAMU je krásný, s dobrou akustiku a úplně v centru Prahy.

Zmatená organizace. Přemístění akce do sklepních prostor namísto zakoupeného sálu Martinů. Zmatený pořadatel v předsálí, který vyměňoval vstupenky za ručně psané útržky. Atmosféra a uspořádání sálu nebylo vhodné k dané akci.

We had been led to believe the concert hall was going to be fancy, the word palace being used was part of this. It was quite plain. We had hoped the venue would be part of the Prague experience. Disappointing venue, but musicians made up for it.

Une salle belle sans être remarquable, mais par contre, une sonorité vraiment exceptionnelle! Je n'ai jamais entendu un ensemble à corde sonner aussi bien dans d'autres salles.

Beautiful building and concert hall. The hall is small enough to feel intimate and has great acoustics. Even though all the seats are only on one level I had no problems seeing everyone on stage.

HAMU is a first rate venue. The Martinů concert hall is attractive, with comfortable seating and good acoustics. It is fairly small and well-suited to the more intimate feel of a chamber concert. There is a very reasonably priced cafe downstairs, with a courtyard to sit in in good weather and the venue is easily accessible by tram.
