You can see the two towers from a long distance. In its peak times, the castle was known as one of the most reliable forts. A noble families used to live in the area. For several years it even served as a hiding place of the precious sacral vestments from the Strahov Monastery in Prague.
Since the 16th century, the castle has remained desolate. It has become the source of inspiration to many Romantic poets, who were attracted to its magic atmosphere, including the Czech beloved writer Karel Hynek Mácha. The castle is open to public during summer and it is easy to get to.
