The Zemlinsky Quartet and its guests pays tribute to love, nation, refined chamber music

Antonín Dvořák praised his son-in-law Josef Suk for his String Quartet No. 1, calling it the best piece composed. After all, at the time it was written, Suk had already been working as a violinist of the famous Czech quartet for four years. Antonín Dvořák then declared about his own composition Cypresses: "Think of a young man in love - that's what's about!" Even the third composition of the evening can be declared a masterpiece, whose quality the composer was well aware of. He entered the work under the slogan "To my Nation" in a competition organized by the Art Forum and won...
