Hear the very finest of Czech string quartets at the St. Agnes Monastery

Škampa String Quartet has been around since 1989 having earned success at competitions all over the world ever since. They’ve also delivered a many top performances and excellent recordings including “Best Debut” Royal Philharmonic Society Award for their exceptional performance at London’s Wigmore Hall in 1993, plus several “Harmony Awards for Best Recording," which the quartet picked up for a CD featuring the Janáček and Smetana Quartets.

From the beginning quartet has established a close relationship with BBC Radio 3 resulting in regular broadcasts from Wigmore Hall, St John’s Smith Square, LSO St Luke’s and the Chamber Music Proms.

The Škampa Quartet does not shy away from venturing beyond the imaginary boundaries of classical music. You can hear it in the "Iva Bittová Classic" album where the musicians masterfully combine hints of Roma, Moravian folk music and jazz.
