A fully Gallic program will be heard in Smetana Hall. Program features famous and rare pieces

The name of the conductor Darrell Ang, who will make his debut with the Prague Symphony Orchestra in June 2023, is symbolic: Darrell comes from the Western world, and Ang from the Eastern. And that's exactly what this native of Singapore and chief conductor of the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra is all about. He has won many competitions, above all the legendary conductor's competition in Besançon, which brought him into the French milieu, so much so that for a time he was the chief conductor in Brittany. Many of his recordings reflect a deep knowledge of French music, one of which was awarded a Grammy nomination. This is one of the reasons for which a fully Gallic program will be heard in Smetana Hall, from famous to rarer pieces, but no less fragrant. The star cellist Julian Steckel playing Édouard Lala will imbue the evening with a melancholy and fiery esprit.

The concert is held in cooperation with the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and the French Institute in Prague.
