My country by Bedřich Smetana - open air concert, no entrance fee
Vyšehrad is a sacred place which is visited on festive occasions. No wonder Smetana began his brilliant cycle of tone poems with Vyšehrad. And there is no more an appropriate time for the Prague Symphony Orchestra to fly on musical wings from the Municipal House to Vyšehrad park for the first time in its history than when Smetana is celebrating his 200th birthday and the Prague Symphony Orchestra is approaching its 90th.
In fact, the musicians will feel a bit at home at the premiere on the venerable land. The attentive viewer will not miss the fact that the Smetana Hall and the Vyšehrad plateau are both decorated with a statue of Lumír with a harp, and Smetana's symphonic poem Vyšehrad begins with the sweet sound of the harp.
