The band combining tradition with modern age was founded in 2001 and during its existence it has become an important part on the music scene. Namgar Lhasaran's voice, born on the border of Buryat, Mongolia and China, is as huge as her Siberian country.
Namgar combines traditional Burjat and Mongolian music with elements of pop, jazz, folk, ambient sounds and art-rock.
The band uses traditional Mongolian instruments, including yatag (13-string zither), chanza (3-string lute) along with electric bass and drums to combine into a unique sound.
The melodic music created by Namgar is based on music that Nagmar Lkhasaranova heard as a child from her grandparents and father. The songs in modern arrangements are based on old Buryat stories and myths of old Mongolian warriors, champions, horses and famous battles.
