Musica Florea & Martina Jankova performing St. Nicholas

St. Nicholas, patron of children, merchandisers, sailors and even chemists has become one of the most popular saints ever. he brings presents to children, he is merciful, protective and comforting to the adults. We can find many churches and temples around Europe carrying his name. It is therefore interesting that the only piece of music created on St. Nicholas's part of life is by a Baroque composer Bononcini - one of his most acclaimed works.

Program:

Giovanni Battista Bononcini: San Nicola di Bari, oratorio (Czech premiere)

Performing:

Martina Jankova - San Nicola di Bari
Katerina Knezikova- Giovanna, his mother
Furio Zanasi - Epifanio, his father
Marketa Cukrova  - Clizio

Musica Florea - Ensemble was founded in 1992 by Marek Stryncl. The ensemble`s repertoire includes instrumental chamber music, secular and sacred vocal-instrumental music, orchestral concertos, and monumental works in the genres of symphonic music, opera, and oratorio from the early Baroque to the twentieth century.
