It was not so long ago that the young French trumpeter Lucienne Renaudin Vary caught the attention of the music world...
She was born in 1999 and in January 2010, won the first prize in the Selmer-Le Parnasse competition. Although she was only 11 years old, she followed this achievement by winning third prize at the Concours Européen des Jeunes Trompettistes in Alençon, this time in the 14-17 category. Her astonishing virtuosity and maturity have been rewarded with first prizes in all the competitions she has entered. She is the only musician to have won the Concours de Petites Mains Symphoniques in both the classical and jazz categories. As a result of her talent, she was invited as a soloist to prestigious festivals such as the International Vladimir Spivakov Festival in Moscow and the Festival Classique au Vert. In addition to this, she has also collaborated with the London Chamber Orchestra and Vladimir Ashkenazy.
Tonight she will be accompanied by the CNSO Chamber Soloists under the direction of artistic leader Alexej Rosík, and the musical partners for her solo pieces will be two Czech trumpeters, the excellent Jiří Houdek and Jan Hykrda.
