Captivating dance drama inspired by a true story of heart transplantation on the New Stage of Prague National Theatre

Performance in a co-production by SRDCE (Heart) Agency and the Josef Kajetán Tyl Theater of Pilsen.

The dance project HEART tells the profound human story of Erika and Sebastian, two medical students. After a carefree study at the university, their paths diverge with time. Sebastian sees his beloved Erika for the last time in the hospital, as her doctor. The work is dedicated to people all over the world who donated their hearts when they could no longer go on.

Heart transplantation is one of the incredible procedures of modern medicine. The weight of fate and the moment when one becomes a heart donor are so emotional that they cannot be described in words. Perhaps music and dance will express the joy but also the sadness and pain that accompany this victory in medical science.

In 2022, 100 years will pass since the birth of the South African cardiac surgeon, Professor CHRISTIAAN NEETHLING BARNARD, who was the first to perform a successful heart transplant in 1967. Despite the fact that more than 50 years have passed since this incredible procedure, transplant medicine is still full of many myths and many questions.
