The Bach Collegium Praha was established in 1982 by Dr. Vladimir Novak as a chamber orchestra and a choir. The mission of this vocal-instrumental ensemble is to provide a fresh take on the music of years past. Bach Collegium Praha also frequently collaborates on projects with leading Czech soloists and instrumentalists. Some of the notable include Stanislava Mihalcova, Kamila Mazalová, Jaromír Nosek, Radek Krejci, among others.
The focus of Bach Collegium is ensemble vocal and instrumental interpretations of sacred music, particularly cantatas by Johann Sebastian Bach and works by old Czech masters Franz Xaver and Simon Brixi. The Collegium aims to bring to light their hitherto unknown works and newly discovered compositions. Some other typical names on the program include Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Antonin Dvorak and others.
The concert has no intermission.
