Compositions by A. Dvořák, H. Wieniawski, F. Liszt presented by elite Central European performers & Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava

This celebratory concert on the occasion of the Chairmanship of the Czech Republic in the V4 countries group offers compositions by Central European composers presented by elite Central European performers.

The program includes the renowned contemplative Biblical Songs by Antonín Dvořák, performed by the Slovak baritone Gustáv Beláček. The famous concerto by Henryk Wieniawski will be performed by the Polish violin star Maria Włoszczowska.

The evening will commence and end with two engrossing orchestral compositions, Carnival by Antonín Dvořák and Prometheus by Ferenc Liszt, presented by the Janáček Philharmonic Orchestra Ostrava conducted by the famous conductor Zsolt Hamar.

  • Henryk Wieniawski (1835–1880): Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Op. 22

  • Antonín Dvořák (1841–1904): Biblical Songs, Op. 99
    A cycle of 10 songs from the Book of Psalms in the translation of the Bible of Kralice. Instrumentation by Jarmil Burghauser and Jan Hanuš.
