Top Czech oboist Jan Thuri
studied oboe first at Prague Conservatory with his father, composer F. X. Thuri, and then at the Prague Academy of Musical Arts and in Utrecht. He is a laureate and winner of many international competition. He co-operates with the foremost local and foreign orchestras and chamber ensembles, he funded also his own chamber ensemble “Thuri Ensemble”. Since 2005 he is a Professor of the Prague Conservatory and a leader of master courses in United States, Korea and Japan.
Jan Thuri is often sought-after for the forst appearance of compositions of famous Czech and foreign contemporary composers. He has made a lot of recordings for Czech Radio, Radio France, and BBC, too; one of the most important pieces of work of Jan Thuri in the recent period of time is a collected recording of his father´s oboe and orchestra concerts. Jan Thuri is also appointed as an official oboe player for the Fossati-Paris company.
For concert visitors is St. Nicholas church open 15 minutes before the concert.
