Senior Dixieland is an amateur jazz orchestra, which was established in the year 1978. A classical dixieland formation consists of a three-part harmony “Frontline” and four-member rhythmics. Members of the orchestra are experienced players that went through a lot of jazz bands (Traditional Jazz Studio, Hot & Sweet Orchestra, Original Indigo etc.). Senior Dixieland regularly take part of almost all domestic and many international festivals.
The Seniors are a popular attraction in Reduta Jazz Club and are one of the pillars of the program.
To groups of 10 or more people we offer special group discounts.
In ancient Greece the "redutas" were the centres of fun and music. So it is with Reduta Jazz Club Prague! Enjoy the great atmosphere of first-rate Prague jazz concerts held here.
A specialty of Reduta Jazz Club is the introduction of big-bands, where you get wrapped up into the happenings on the stage and become a part of the orchestra. The Reduta Jazz Club first opened its door in 1957 as a small experimental stage. Local "text appeals" - improvisations of renowned actors soon became very popular. In 1958, a group of jazz enthusiasts opened a jazz club here thanks to slight loosening of political control of the communist regime. Reduta soon became a place where fun, and especially great jazz music, was a commonplace. In the 1970’s and 1980’s Reduta became a small oasis, a point of resistance against the rigid “normalization” regime. Dissidents and avant-garde artists gathered here, and frequent debates lasted long into the night.
Frequent jam sessions in Reduta Jazz Club were unforgettable, featuring Tony Scott, Acker Bilk, Chris Barber or the admirable Wynton Marsalis. After the Velvet Revolution in 1989, the club caught a second wind. The present dramaturgy deploys all genres of jazz production relying mostly on modern jazz, funky, fusion and blues, although the traditional dixieland is also given its due. Reduta Jazz Club also often introduces big-bands.
Music production usually starts at 9.30 pm ending after midnight.
The whole time a wide menu of beverages is available in the club’s Saxophone Bar.
The club is a smoking space with powerful air-conditoning
