This year the festival pays a tribute to one of the greatest composers of post – byzantine Eastern Music, i. e. Petros Peloponnesios, which, in the 18th century, is the equivalent of W. A. Mozart of the Eastern Christianity. As in previous years, the festival will present a wide and varied spectrum of Orthodox music, ranging from the sounds of Byzantine music, Znamenny Chant, through Romanticism (P. I. Tchaikovsky and others), to works by leading contemporary composers such as Arvo Pärt and Alfred Schnittke as well as world premieres of works of young Czech composers – this year these will be Martin Klusák and Jan Trojan.
The concert has no intermission.

The late Renaissance building of Malostranska beseda was formerly a city hall. For many years it has served as a social and music hall and is one of the cultural centres of Lesser Town. Its location on the old Royal Route, leading from the Old Town to Prague Castle certainly contributes to its popularity especially among foreign visitors. You can also visit the local art gallery, cafe, or listen to original music performances mostly of Czech authors.
