He has directly contributed to many successful Czechoslovak and international projects. When writing his compositions, he derives inspiration from Roma folklore, jazz, artificial music, but also flamenco. His performances are influenced by the styles of Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson, Herbie Hancock and Claude Debussy.
Jakub Tököly's compositional achievements include the excellent albums Different Directions and The Echoes. In the second album mentioned, he brought together talented musicians from the Czechoslovak scene and created a musical synthesis of wind instruments, percussion, double bass and piano miniatures.
Now, together with Oskar Török, Cyril Oswald, Tomáš Baroš and Peter Solárik, he will present this album to the audience at Prague's The Loop Jazz Club. The listeners will thus be able to hear pieces with an unprecedented mixture of energy, instrumental virtuosity, as well as those with a minimalist and intimate expression.
