Although the famous Baroque orchestra Collegium 1704 was officially founded in 2005, it played under the Prague Symphony Orchestra banner at the Church of Sts. Simon and Jude with its founder and artistic director Václav Luks as early as October 2003. Incidentally, the program at that time included a part of an oratorio by Josef Mysliveček, who is today almost fatefully linked with the ensemble.
Collegium 1704 returns to the church after four years. Whereas in October 2020 the music was purely instrumental, in October 2024 we will also welcome their sister vocal ensemble Collegium Vocale 1704. Thanks to them, the ten-part, wide-echoed Stabat Mater by Domenico Scarlatti, which he composed during his Vatican tenure, will also be the focus of the evening.
