Prague is famous for its unique architecture, the historical centre of Prague is inscribed in the World Heritage List and the city is known as a UNESCO monument. Prague is also called The City of Hundred Spires. In the very heart of Prague lies its most beautiful square - The Old Town Square, dominated by the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn and by the Old Town Hall with the Astronomical Clock whose twelve apostles are looking out of the windows every hour.
The Old Town Square goes back to the 12th century. It served as the central marketplace for Prague. Over the centuries buildings of Romanesque, Baroque and Gothic styles were erected around the market, each bringing with them stories of wealthy merchants and political intrigue.
Beneath the Old Town Hall and Astronomical Clock lie a series of recently restored chambers that many people do not even know exist and most tours ignore. Yet these chambers are tied up in the history of the Old Town Hall and of Prague itself.
This mysterious tour will take you to a unique Prague’s underground location and dedicated guides (mostly native English speakers) will lead you through the gruesome events that took place there. The rooms under the Old Town Hall were restored so that the visitors could see what remained from the ancient prison, family home or even a from courtroom.
