The musical performances in the Spanish Synagogue in Prague belong to the best, what Prague offers in the field of chamber classical concerts.
Spanish Synagogue in Prague got its name from the Moorish style, in which it was in the 19th century built on the site of the original synagogue – so called Altschul- from the 12th century. Exotic style emphasized the reformist character of the new synagogue, which belonged to German-speaking reform Jews.
Renowned contemporary architects and artists created a beautiful neo-Renaissance building, whose interior still charms with oriental adornment.
The synagogue now belongs to the Prague´s Jewish Museum, it houses part of the exhibition, and popular concerts of classical and sacred music in Prague often take place here.
In the Spanish Synagogue you will find pews, therefore all concerts are open seating concerts. Your ticket always guarantee the place to sit. In case you wish to choose comfortably the place you want to sit, we advise to our clients to come at least 20 minutes before the beginnig of the concert.
