The main building of the National Museum dominates
Prague Wenceslas Square since 1890. The museum itself was founded on the initiative of patriotically minded nobility during the National Revival. The main idea of the architect was to represent Czech culture at the highest level. Various kinds of natural stone were used for the construction and beautiful sculptural decorations. Precious Carrara marble was brought for the imposing staircase in the lobby where popular classical music concerts are held.
